Bynta has been employed as a Foreign Service Officer at the Department of External Affairs for eight years. She previously served as the Desk Officer for Asia/Pacific, Africa and the Middle East. Presently, she serves primarily as the Human Rights Officer with responsibility for the Secretariat of the National Coordinating Committee for Human Rights. Bynta has been working in the field of human rights for over five years since participating in the 2015 LCDs/SIDS Fellowship at the Human Rights Council.
While still employed at the Department of External Affairs, Bynta had the opportunity to work with the Global Environment Facility(UNDP) Small Grants Programme in Saint Lucia for three months. This placement was valuable to her work at the Department as she was able to witness the role that International Relations plays in the field of International Development on a local level.
Before her career in diplomacy, Bynta was employed worked as a teacher and Communications specialist.
Bynta is an avid fitness and nature lover. She has recently taken up long distance walking and participated in and completed the annual Round the Island Independence Challenge 2020.
